Koleton Irvin Jay Carpenter

AN Koleton Irvin Jay Carpenter, USN, 21, was taken from this earth too soon Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023.

Koleton was born Jan. 21, 2002, in Houston, Texas, to Kelly Kline Phelps.

He is survived by his mother, Kelly Kline Phelps of North Baltimore; father, Daniel Phelps and Nana Martha Abeyta, both of Grants, New Mexico; sisters, Izabella Phelps of North Baltimore and Kalissa Carpenter of Perrysburg; brothers, Tyler and Justin Carpenter and Ben Parker, all of Texas; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ohio, New Mexico, and Kentucky.

He attended Penta Career Center for Welding and graduated from North Baltimore High School in 2020. Koleton joined U.S. Navy in service of our country March 17, 2021. Koleton was an Airman on board the USS Nimitz, stationed in Bremerton, Washington. Koleton loved his new Jeep and motorcycle, gaming on his computer, and having adventures with his friends. During his last deployment, he became a Shellback and visited Thailand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Hawaii. He made many good friends in the Navy. Koleton was a good man with a big heart and would do anything for anyone in need. He was very close to his grandparents, Irvin and Mary Jo Kline, who loved him dearly. He will be laid to rest at their grave site at McComb Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, and 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, until the time of Koleton's funeral at 11 a.m., all at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore. Pastor Hugh Bowland will officiate.

Koleton's graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at McComb Union Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted.
