Gretchen McDonald

Gretchen McDonald, 74, of Houston, Texas, and formerly of North Baltimore, died Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Houston Methodist, The Woodlands. She was born January 23, 1951, to the late Clifford and Neva (Hamman) Brumbaugh. She married Gene McDonald June 14, 1980, and he preceded her in death October 1, 2018.

Gretchen is survived by her daughters, Jaimye (David) Stephens-Benedict of North Baltimore and Molly McDonald-Gilley of Houston, Texas; brothers, Blair (Suzette) Brumbaugh of York, Pennsylvania and Cuff (Janet) Brumbaugh of Cygnet; grandchildren, Makayla Rein, Grace Rein, Brooklyn, Addison and Maddox; and her beloved dog, Charlie.

Gretchen was a 1969 graduate of North Baltimore High School. She was a longtime babysitter and was a huge part of many children's childhoods. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, North Baltimore. Gretchen was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and Neil Diamond, but her greatest love was her grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore.

Memorial contribu-tions may be made to Autism Foundation and/or American Cancer Society.
