Wilda Ruth von Stein

Wilda Ruth von Stein, 96, of rural Jenera, died at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at Good Samaritan in Arlington.

She was born May 19, 1926, in Jenera, to the late George and Pearl (Reel) Heldman.

She married Samuel von Stein on June 20, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera, and he preceded her in death April 17, 2001. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1998.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a 1944 graduate of Rawson High School and retired in 1986 from Marathon Oil Company after 30 years. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera. She was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and Duke University basketball. She enjoyed watching her kids and grandchildren in sports activities and musicals, reading, and mowing grass. She was a member of a Jenera pinochle club for over 50 years. All of the ladies were members of the church.

She is survived by a son, Thomas (Nancy) von Stein of Sylvania; daughter, Alice (John, deceased) Norway of Arlington; grandchildren, George (Ashley) Norway, Veronica (Todd) Sherman, Keith (Laura) von Stein, and Brittany von Stein; great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Bella, Emma, Kinslee, Savannah, Karlie, Thia, Cody, and Clara; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard; and sister, Ruby.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 620 North Main Street, Arlington. Wilda's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera, with additional visitation from 10-11 a.m. Pastor Matthew Nowak will officiate and burial will follow at the church cemetery.
