Virginia McVey Obituary

Virginia Lee "Ginny" McVey

Virginia Lee "Ginny" McVey, 92, died at 9:45 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2024, at AbbeWood Assisted Living in Elyria.

She was born Dec. 6, 1931, in Findlay, to Neal and Edythe Simons. Ginny was a 1949 graduate of Findlay High School. She married Bruce M. McVey on Jan. 9, 1954.

Ginny was a mother, homemaker, and former bookkeeper. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and traveling, adventuring across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. She was also a voracious reader, tackling nearly 100 books every year. Ginny was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians/Guardians baseball team and The Ohio State University Buckeyes football team. In true bookkeeper form, she kept stats on both teams, every game, going back 60-plus years.

Ginny is survived by her son, Dr. Brett (Linda) McVey; daughters, Tawny (Michael) Faber and Colleen (David) Marble; grandchildren, Shannon (Brandon) Post, Dr. Courtney (Dr. James) Hrdlicka, Haley (Evan) Marble-Foreman, and Megan Marble; great-grandchildren, Cecilia Post, Andrew Post, and Mary Hrdlicka; and brother, Robert Simons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; parents; and brother, William Simons.

Private burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay at a later date.
