I recently learned that Tom passed last year. I worked with Tom for a few years in Juneau, and he was one of the special people at the AG´s office. Come-workers were drawn to his office, and it wasn´t only for tea. Tom was a good man and a friend. He was one of the nicest attorneys I ever worked with. He loved his dogs, and he took care of my cat a couple times when I was out of town. I have missed Tom in the years since I left Juneau.

We remember Tom during his time at the sewer district as our HR Director. Neither of us had an opportunity to work with Tom closely but during the brief encounters we remember he was kind and had a sense of humor. He was spoken of fondly by those that knew him. The District had a hard time finding anyone capable of filling his shoes for many years. Our sincere condolences to Tom's family, Nicole & Allan

Sherry, Carolyn and Kelly, I am so very sad to hear of your loss. Tom was my fellow NEORSD attorney and longtime friend. He put up with my terrible golfing just so we could spend time on the course chatting about life. When we communicated last he reminded me of his love for The New Vinton County Frogwhompers, my late brother-in-law´s bluegrass band in Central Ohio. He was gentle, kind, funny as hell, and an excellent attorney. I will miss him.

Many wonderful memories of a lifelong friend and college roommate. I can still hear his John Denver cassette playing over and over as we'd travel to State Parks to camp, even though we probably should have been studying. Always the smartest person in the room yet so humble, generous and kind to everyone. So very saddened by this news. Condolences to the family. I was honored to have you in my life. Rest in peace my friend.

I (Linda) am so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. I graduated high school with Tom and remember him as being quiet, kind, humble, mature, and very smart. I’m not surprised he was a Christian man of character, successful in his career and his personal life. I admire that he lived his life true to his passions. We pray God comforts all of you as you adjust to this huge void in your lives, knowing you will be reunited one day.
Sincerely,
Linda (Benroth, Basinger) and Doug Stockton

I grew up with Tom thru McComb schools. We play football and baseball together. I played left tackle and he played left guard. He was mainly a pitcher and shortstop on the baseball team. I lost track of Tom for a while but we reconnected the past few years via email & text. We share a love of sports (especially baseball) and had similar music likes. He was a big Kris Kristopherson fan and Tom turned me on to that music. We also shard a live for old-time gospel songs and other unusual music. I am really gonna miss Tom and his texts sharing the music he was listening to at that point in time. He was a good man and an even better friend. Rest In Peace my friend !!

I was Tom's assistant while he worked for the Alaska Department of Law. I, too, was very proud of him as we worked as a team preparing his briefs in four different federal courts including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. No one was more loved in the Juneau office than Tom Lenhart. His office snack buffet and selection of warm teas were legendary.
His love of animals and wildlife was heartwarming. He befriended a porcupine here in Juneau who he named Freddie. Tom would hand-feed Freddie sliced apples from his front door, which he loved doing. Once, Freddie brought her baby to meet Tom, and climbed 16 steps to do so.
He could be relied upon to offer any amusing line from any Monty Python scene if the situation needed it. His legal writing was brilliant and persuasive. We also had a mutual interest in pipe organs and organ music not many knew about.
Thank you Tom, for all the times you took care of my maniacal dog as I traveled. She adored you as well.
My sincere sympathies to Sherry, Carolyn, Kelly, and Lilly.

I am going to miss my baby brother terribly along with my older brother Roger. I comfort myself knowing they are in a better place. They both loved the Lord and it showed in the way they lived their lives and their deep love for family and friends. Tom and Sherry made many recent trips to Ohio to visit family and to take their dog Lily to his niece Julie at the Pampered Pooch salon. Tom was a special guy with a kind heart with love for God, family and country. He also had many friends and cousins that were dear to him. He raised two wonderful daughters. Rest in peace, brother.

Sad news and condolences to the family. Tom and I worked together in Alaska, he as legal council and the agency I led as client. I always enjoyed our interactions and his sound advice. His office was an easy few steps from the capitol in Juneau and I enjoyed a few cups at the "tea room". My early years were spent in Ohio and we had good conversations about Cleveland and the Great Lakes. Thanks for sharing him with the rest of us! Rest in peace Tom.

This has struck me in a visceral way. Tom was in a tight group of friends that I was fortunate to be in. I have lots of stories with/regarding Tom from back in the day, and I was excited he was moving to South Carolina. Good man...my sympathy to his family.

Tom and I had many great times together working on projects and organizing golf outings for the annual "consultant gift exchange" during our time with the NEORSD. I can't ever remember hearing a cross word from Tom, and I'll always regret being unable to spend more of our golden years together here in Sun City.
