John Aukerman Obituary

John Gage Aukerman

John Gage Aukerman, 78, of McComb, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 28, 2026, at Birchaven Village in Findlay. He was born March 29, 1947, to the late Gage and Alta (Clark) Aukerman.

John was a 1966 graduate of McComb High School. Following graduation, he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served in Vietnam for 13 months and was awarded two Purple Hearts. Following his service, John returned to McComb and worked at Cooper Tire for 38 years. He was an avid Ohio State Football fan and loved farming on his family's farm. He also loved attending games and activities for his nieces and nephews.

John will be remembered for his quiet and laid-back, but generous and giving spirit. He is survived by his sisters, Judith Ann (Bill-deceased) Boblenz, Jane Shepard, and Janet (Michael) Rich; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jeffrey Aukerman and Joe Aukerman; and a nephew, Steve Aukerman.

A gathering will be from 11 a.m. until time of A Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 South Park Drive, McComb, OH, 45848. Interment will follow at McComb Union Cemetery, where full military honors will be conferred by Hancock County Veterans' Memorial Squad.
