Dr. Michael William Lindamood

Dr. Michael William "Lindamood", 79, a longtime physician and community leader in Findlay, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024.

He is survived by three children, Brian (Ellison) Lindamood of Worthington, Heather (Douglas) Buchanan of New Albany, and Kurtis (Katie) Lindamood of New Albany; five grandchildren, May M. Buchanan, Paige P. Buchanan, Sebastian G. Lindamood, Cameron E. Lindamood, and Quinn R. Lindamood; three siblings, Suzanne (Sherman) Hanna of Upper Arlington, David (Gail) Lindamood of Cadillac, Michigan, and Kevin (Rachael) Lindamood of Bristol, Rhode Island; and significant other of more than nine years, Nancy Drake Colley.

Lindamood was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Koch Lindamood; and parents.

Lindamood was born April 25, 1945, to Emerson Barker and Margaret Jane (Lukingbeal) Lindamood. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1963 and from Mount Union College in 1967. He married Barbara Ann Koch of Akron on June 21, 1969.

He continued his studies at Ohio State University College of Medicine, graduating in 1971. In 1974, he completed a residency in internal medicine at Riverside Methodist Hospital and in 1976, he completed a fellowship in rheumatology at University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver.

He moved to Findlay in 1976 to join Blanchard Valley Medical Associates, a practice he co-founded with his friends and classmates from Ohio State medical school, known as the "Columbus 10." He practiced rheumatology in Findlay for 44 years. He was also a Fellow of American College of Rheumatology.

A lifelong fan of Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and Ohio State Buckeyes, Lindamood was also active in local sports. He was the team physician for Findlay High School for 25 years. In 1996, he was honored with the Outstanding Team Physician award from Ohio Coaches Association. He was also a longtime board member and coach for Findlay Youth Baseball.

He served as a board member for the Arthritis Foundation (Northwest Ohio Chapter), Hancock County Board of Health, and Findlay City Schools Board of Education, where he served as president for two terms.

Lindamood loved traveling with his family, particularly cruises, and attending his grandchildren's various sporting events, dance recitals, and art shows. His hobbies included all things outdoors. He enjoyed gardening and he was a beekeeper, bottling honey for family and friends. Most recently, he was an avid angler, spending summer mornings fly-fishing for trout. He loved holiday traditions and was known for making his homemade cranberry relish every Thanksgiving and his secret-recipe peanut brittle every Christmas.

Lindamood's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, 2330 S. Main Street, Findlay, with Pastor Tomas Pistora officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay.
