Randall Ebling Obituary

Randall "Randy" Ebling

Randall (Randy) Robert Ebling, 72, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, surrounded by family, after a battle with cancer. Born June 17, 1953, Randy grew up in Cairo, Ohio, and graduated from Lima Bath High School in 1971. After high school, he attended Bowling Green State University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1975. He started his teaching career at Van Buren Schools and dedicated over three decades as a teacher and athletic director, profoundly impacting many lives through his roles as a coach in basketball, baseball, and volleyball.

Randy was deeply committed, not only to his career but also to his community. He was a longstanding member of Van Buren Lions Club and a volunteer with American Red Cross, notably assisting in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. An avid golfer, Randy cherished his time on the links with his family and friends and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. He was a member of Cairo, Van Buren, and Salem United Methodist Churches.

Surviving Randy are his wife of more than 51 years, Cindy (Staley) Ebling; children, Chad (Amy) Ebling and Carrie (Nathan) Beare; grandchildren, Brady, Ava, and Harper Ebling and Evelyn and Charlie Beare; and siblings, Mike (Pat) Ebling, Scott Ebling, Diane (Max) Miller, and Lori (Kelly) Ebling. He is also survived by his in-laws, Ellen (Dale) Meninga, Patsy Marshall, Sondra (Carl) DeLong, and Scott (Carol) Staley. He leaves behind many other beloved family members and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Donna (Earl) McClanahan and Ronald Ebling and his grandparents, Don and Vernie Earl and Onard and Mildred Ebling.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Bridge Hospice Center and Blanchard Valley Hospital for the care they provided to Randy in his final days.

Services will be at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Visitation will also take place at 10 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home and will be shared with the family in order to fund a scholarship or contribution to Van Buren School in Randy's honor, continuing his legacy of supporting education and athletic excellence.

Cindy and family, I am so very sorry to learn of Randy´s passing. He was a very caring neighbor, and it was always a joy to see him out tending to things around the house. He would always have a smile on his face and a kind greeting every time I saw him. He will truly be missed by us and so many others.
