Laura Mauger Obituary

Laura Mauger

Laura Lyn Mauger, beloved mother, sister, friend, aunt and artist, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 3, 2025, in Findlay, at the age of 70.

Born May 6, 1955, in Columbus, Laura was raised in Findlay, where she graduated from Findlay High School in 1973. She attended The Ohio State University before earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1984.

Laura devoted her life to creative expression and nurturing the imagination of others. A lifelong artist, she shared her love of art through teaching children's workshops, along with working in the hospitality industry.

For over thirty years, Laura made her home in Nags Head, North Carolina, a place that inspired much of her art and where she found joy in the rural community and coastal life, with the company of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron McKnight, in 2010 and her parents, Robert and Helen Mauger of Findlay, in 2014 and 2015.

She is survived by her son, Zane McKnight of Nags Head, North Carolina; her brother, Robert Mauger of Findlay; and her sister, Kris Mauger Allison of Corona del Mar, California.

Known for her compassion, quick wit, and observational humor, Laura touched many lives through her art, teaching, and love of nature. Her creativity and warmth continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Laura's life will be at a later date in Nags Head, where family and friends will gather to honor her unique spirit. In remembrance, those wishing to honor Laura's legacy may consider supporting a children's art education program or local arts organization of their choice.
