Greg Hoverman Obituary

Greg Hoverman

Greg Hoverman, 70, of McComb, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

Greg was born February 28, 1956, in Findlay, to the late Raymond and Mary (Bidlack) Hoverman. He met Mary Lee while attending a revival service at Central Church of Christ, and they were married March 27, 1982, and she survives in McComb. Also surviving are his two sons, Shawn Hoverman and Timothy Hoverman, and his siblings, Gwen (Rex) Burk and Donnie (Celeste) Hoverman.

Greg was also preceded in death by a sister, Diana Houtz.

Greg was a lifelong and dedicated member of the McComb community and a 1974 graduate of McComb High School. He was employed at Whirlpool in Findlay, where he retired in 2020 after 43 years of dedicated service. In addition, Greg spent 45 years as an insurance agent, working alongside his family at Hoverman Insurance Agency Inc. in McComb.

Greg was a proud 43-year member of McComb Lions Club. In recognition of his commitment to service, he was honored with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award and Ohio Lions Eye Research Leadership Award. He also served the organization as president on two occasions. Greg further demonstrated his dedication to others through his service as an EMT and firefighter with McComb PMP.

He was a member of Toledo Indian Motorcycle Club and found great enjoyment in riding his motorcycle, particularly on the many trips he shared with his beloved wife, Mary. Greg was also a member of Parkview Christian Church in Findlay and a former member of McComb Church of Christ in McComb.

Greg was a devoted provider and a loving family man who cherished time with those closest to him. Known for his warm personality, he will be remembered for his welcoming smile, engaging conversation, and lighthearted sense of humor.

He was an avid supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds and faithfully attended McComb Panther football games, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his team.

Greg will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and the lasting impact he made on his family, friends, and community.

Visitation for Greg will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2026, at McComb Church of Christ, 400 Ackerly Dr., McComb, Ohio 45858. Greg's Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the church, Pastor Joel Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow at McComb Union Cemetery.

Yesterday

I knew Greg and his wife, Mary thru the McComb Lions Club (my late husband, Jon L. Smalley) was also a Lions Club member in McComb! He was genuinely happy and always smiling; very friendly! Mary, I am so very sorry for your loss and am thinking of your entire family, too
