Leo Oswald Obituary

Leo P. Oswald

Leo Patrick Oswald, 86, of Findlay, rode into the sunset Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023.

He was born Jan. 2, 1937, to Leslie and Agnes (Jordan) Oswald, the sixth of their seven children.

Leo was a lover of all things western. He loved all animals, but had a special affection for birds. He raised many different types of birds. He loved to raise pheasants and turn them out into the wild. To know Leo was to be a part of his good humor and his zest for life. He had a knack for turning mundane chores into playful adventures and to be able to laugh about anything. Leo joined U.S. Army on the buddy system with his best friend, John Fitzpatrick, and served overseas in Korea. After returning from serving his country, he married Sharon McAlexander and they had four children together. After his divorce, he married the love of his life, Janet Young.

Leo is survived by four children, Laureen Fay Westrick, Kevin Leo Oswald (Karen), Lisa Kay Ames (Steve), and Tina Lynne Siefert (Brad); two granddaughters that he lovingly raised, Amber Rochelle Hesson and Audrey Louise Jackson; five other grandchildren that he loved and loved to share his humor with; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Groves and Ruth VanAtta; and sisters-in-law, Doris Oswald and Judy Oswald.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur (Sarah), Joseph (Almira), Thomas, and Raymond; brothers-in-law, Dean VanAtta and Art Groves; son-in-law, Thomas Westrick; and beloved wife, Janet Louise (Young).

Leo will be cremated and laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery beside his wife, Janet. There will be a graveside memorial at the cemetery for family and friends at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023.
