Mona Hennings Obituary

Mona Lou Hennings

Mona Lou Hennings, 93, of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Findlay, Ohio passed away early Sunday early afternoon, January 11, 2026, embraced with love from her daughter, Jodi, son-in-law, Tom, Luke and Violet. Jesus wrapped his loving arms around her and gave her comfort, peace and the glory of eternal life.

When asked what lessons she had learned in life, she answered: "To be kind, speak softly, don't slam doors, don't wear your church shoes on a weekday, and be respectful of your elders." Including everyone.

She was born July 27, 1932, to Richard and Naomi Edith Armstrong in West Virginia.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Mary Edith "Edee". She was like another mother to her older brother, Bill. He was a great teacher who loved math. She said he was always telling her"what, when, and how", and they played ball all the time. Brother George Harrison "Sam," and they played marbles a lot and ate their lunches together on the front porch as long as the weather was good. Her youngest sister, Elizabeth Ann "Betsy". Mona taught her how to walk by standing her against the outside wall of the porch. Betsy would inch her way to her until she finally mastered it. They loved playing cards together. Later, Betsy went to school to be an RN and was an honor student. Her husband, Glen Eugene Hennings. They met while serving in the United States Army in California. Married May 16, 1953, and celebrated 65 loving years together before his passing.

Their four children survive her, Julie Ann Beaudry, (Don) Phoenix, Arizona, Vicky Lynn Routson, (Tim) Coldwater, Michigan, Tracy Glen Hennings, Findlay.,and Jodi Lou Bear-Parke (Tom), Cape Coral, Florida; Grandchildren, Jason Allison, Crystal Buess, Joylynn Jessy, Robyn Reed, Brooke Brave, and Alexa Rae Glover; eight great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mona was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Deshler. She was a very active member and raised her children and grandchildren in a Christian environment. After moving to Florida, Mona, Jodi, and Tommy became members of Abiding Love Lutheran Church, only a few blocks from home. We still enjoyed listening to St. Andrew's Methodist online church service Sunday mornings. Pastor Amy always had a beautiful message.

Mona will be deeply missed by her family and friends and will be treasured in all our hearts forever. A private burial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2026, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, with Pastor Amy Miller officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay is handling arrangements.
