Donald Bair Obituary

Donald Eugene Bair

Donald Eugene Bair, 93, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 9:26 p.m. at Birchaven Village, Findlay.

Don was born September 12, 1932, in Findlay, to the late Leo & Hazel (Venaman) Bair. On September 2, 1956, he married the love of his life, Doris Overholt. Together, they raised a loving family and celebrated nearly 70 years of marriage. Doris survives in Findlay.

Also surviving is his son, Douglas (Angela) Bair of Findlay; daughter, Dianna (Kevin Wilhelm) Horne, of Findlay; and grandchildren, Dakota (Jason Weatherholtz) Williams and Vadim (Monica) Kodenets.

Preceding Don in death are his brothers, Edwin Bair, Robert Bair, Max Bair, and Glen Bair; and sisters, Mary Abbey, Elizabeth Herbert, and Margaret Wadding.

Donald served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the DAV-Buddy Chap. 43 and AMVETS Chapter 21, as well as American Legion Post No. 3 and Korean War Veterans No. 172. Don proudly served with Hancock County Memorial Squad for 33 years.

When Don returned from his service, he worked at Old Dutch Brewery prior to becoming an owner/operator truck driver for more than 25 years. He also worked for Findlay Ford after his retirement and drove for Hancock County Veterans Services.

A self-taught guitarist and singer, Don became an accomplished bluegrass musician. He could often be found in his garage playing with friends, at local bluegrass get-togethers, Carey-Fest, and playing for his family and friends around the campfire. Don even cut his own record in Nashville. He also enjoyed western-style square dancing with the Shuffles & Ruffles Club. Don liked buying and selling cars as well, and his driveway was lovingly known to his family as the "sale lot".

Visitation for Donald will be from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026, with an hour visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, with Hancock County Memorial Squad performing military honors.

Memorial contribu-tions may be made in Don's honor to Elara Caring Hospice Foundation, PO Box 58, Jackson, MI 49204.

I knew Don and Doris when I and my husband Larry Bibler (now deceased) lived in Findlay and took lessons and then joined the Shuffle and Ruffles. We had many a great time on Saturday night. I have a club picture of the club and I will look at it and wonder where they are now at our age. Condolences to Doris and family, and Congratulations on 70 years of marriage. God Bless Don as the squares will all someday be together, Bob and Peg are there and now Larry. He was a good man and loved his singing.
