Joanne Schroeder
Joanne Schroeder, of Upper Sandusky, born September 15, 1948, in Findlay, embraced life with an unwavering spirit and a heart full of love until passing Thursday, May 1, 2025, at The Heritage. A remarkable soul, Joanne's journey was a tapestry woven with devotion, creativity, and abiding faith. She graduated from Liberty Benton High School in 1966 and went on to accept an associate's degree from Bowling Green State University and later a paralegal certificate from Ohio Dominican University. As a devoted homemaker, she cultivated an environment brimming with warmth, love and laughter. She also worked outside the home as a secretary at Toledo Trust and later as a legal secretary and paralegal at the Hancock County Prosecutor's office.
Joanne was more than a skilled professional; she served her community with an open heart as an active Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church member. A spirit of service marked her life as she volunteered at the St. Peter School Festival, helped with bingo, crafted quilts full of joy, and lovingly contributed to funeral luncheons that provided comfort during the most difficult times. Her faith and dedication to her community were shining examples of her character.
An avid reader and passionate about crafts, Joanne found joy in crocheting, knitting, and ceramics. She poured creativity into every piece. A devoted sports fan of Notre Dame, she enjoyed attending and watching games with family and friends. In addition, her adventurous spirit took her many places - including her most recent trip to Greece and numerous family adventures in Australia. However, most of all, she was beyond proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their games, performances, and events.
Married to her loving husband, James Schroeder, August 24, 1968, Joanne built a beautiful life with him, filled with love and family. She is survived by her son, Mark (Jackie) Schroeder of Findlay; and her daughter, Andrea (Kevin) Donaldson of Arlington. Her legacy lives on through her adoring grandchildren, Kelsi (Ethan) Mellin, Corrie (Connor Walsh) Knapp, Owen Knapp, Ainsley Schroeder, Lucas Schroeder, Audrey Schroeder, Daniel Donaldson, Luke Donaldson and Gabriel Donaldson. She recently welcomed her joyful great-grandson, Henry James Mellin. Also surviving are her brother, William (Linda) Walborn; and half sister, Sister Judith Leibengood.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Walborn; and her mother, Donna (Beucler) Walborn.
