Carol Calhoun Obituary

Carol Rae (Diller) Calhoun

Carol Rae (Diller) Calhoun, 77, formerly from Wilmington, North Carolina and Findlay, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. Born March 27, 1948, she lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and dedication to family.

Carol devoted her life to her loved ones and was a "professional mom," known for her ability to make people feel loved and remembered. She constantly cared for and worried about her family throughout her life. It was the little things that meant the most-whether it was a timely "get well soon" card, a birthday phone call, or a quick word of prayer and encouragement.

She loved decorating her home for every holiday and season, sharing that joy with everyone she met. Her favorite color was yellow because it reminded her of sunny days and always made her happy. Carol was also a natural at helping children learn to read and frequently volunteered her time at local libraries and schools-and, of course, with her grandchildren.

She was born in Findlay and graduated from Liberty-Benton High School and Bluffton College with a degree in education. She taught at Vanlue Elementary School until marrying the love of her life, Bill Calhoun.

Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Todd (Michele) Calhoun, Amy (Adit) Mardayat, and Adam (Sarah) Calhoun; seven grandchildren; brothers, Ernie (BJ) Diller, Chris (Annette) Diller, and Brian (Cindy) Diller; and sister, Rebecca (Sam) Jones. In addition, Bill and Carol sponsored two German Foreign Exchange students, siblings Bjorn and Frauke Lipprandt, who are considered honorary family members, as well as the rest of their extended family in Germany.

Bill preceded Carol in death in 2021.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Clubhouse at the University of Findlay, Good Shepherd UMC in Benton Ridge, or Wilmington, North Carolina Public Library at Donate ' Wilmington Public Library District.
