Jack Wittenmyer Obituary

Jack J. Wittenmyer

Jack J. Wittenmyer, 76, of Quincy, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at his home.

He was born Aug. 26, 1946, in Findlay, to Clyde and Bonnie (Tarr) Wittenmyer. Jack married Deborah Hammond on Sept. 8, 1973, and she survives.

Jack graduated from Liberty-Benton High School, Findlay, in 1964. He went on to serve his country in U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Army vet. Jack was the owner of Hancock Masonry and then worked at Consolidated Freightways. He was also the owner of Preferred Sweeping in Quincy. Jack was a hard-working, selfless man who loved his family and was always there to help someone out. He loved fishing with his grandkids and spending all the time he could with them. He loved visiting with family and friends and his annual hunting trip to the U.P with his son, Jason. Jack was always ready to joke or give someone a hard and was the master at figuring out the cheapest way to fix something.

Jack is also survived by three children, Jason (Melissa) Wittenmyer, Erin (Benjy) Wilber, and Corie (Warren) Snyder; grandchildren, Anna, Brynley, Morgan, Ellison, and Jackie; and siblings, Jill Sonnet, Sally Knight, Rex Wittenmyer, and Becky Gorrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Lincoln Wiber; and brothers, Roger and Jon Saums.

Jack's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at Union Church in Quincy with Pastors Cathy Davis and Brad Parrish officiating. Interment will follow at West Girard Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy.

Deb....My deepest condolences to you and your family. I spent several of my adolescent years growing up with Jack and his family when my mom died. As a first cousin some of my fondest early childhood memories were of growing up with Jack and his siblings.
Jack was one special guy and I will deeply miss him.

My deepest condolences to Deb & family...Jack was one special guy and a favorite first cousin of mine. I remember his phone call when my husband passed away 2 yrs. ago, and thought it so thoughtful. Just know thoughts & prayers are with you.
Love, Rosemary
