Jack Dean Mathers

Jack Dean Mathers, 76, of Findlay, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

He was born Nov. 8, 1946, to Claude Austen and Sarah Ann (Morrison) Mathers. Jack was the youngest of seven children.

Jack is survived by his dear wife, Bonnie, whom he married June 28, 1969; son, John (Penny) Mathers; daughter, Jennifer (Christopher) Halstead; two grandchildren, Anthony Halstead and Jack Mathers; two brothers, William "Bill" (Roiene) Mathers and Claude (Jane) Mathers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Claudia (Bill) Stetter, Clara (Elmer) Hakin, Julie (Jerry) Stauffer, and Tillie (Russell) Teegardin.

Jack worked for many years as a salesman for Thermal Transmission Industries and later as the Facilities Manager of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish. Before his time at TTI, he owned his own plumbing and heating business, J.D. Mathers Plumbing and Heating. He greatly enjoyed fishing, especially at the Clearfork Reservoir, and target shooting at United Conservationists of America, where he was a longtime member. He was an accomplished woodworker, making numerous pieces of furniture for St. Michael the Archangel Parish and School. He was a Civil War reenactor and could fix anything! Jack was also a longtime member of Findlay Knights of Columbus.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, until the time of Jack's prayer service at 11:30 a.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Mass of Christian burial will be 12 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Downtown Chapel, 617 West Main Cross, Findlay. Burial will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish Cemetery.
