Ervin Clair "Clair" Fetters
Ervin Clair Fetters now rejoices with his Savior Jesus Christ who freed him from cancer Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023. He passed peacefully into eternal rest in the loving care of his wife of 43 years, Tedica.
Clair was born Nov. 10, 1932, on the family farm in Marion Township to Rawson Clark and Ferne (Brown) Fetters. He attended Washington and Glenwood schools and graduated from Findlay High School in 1950. He married classmate, Roxine Redick, on Nov. 22, 1951, and she preceded him in death Sept. 6, 1978. Two sisters, Cartha (Ulrich dec.) Reile and Ruth (Timothy dec.) Cole are also deceased. He married Tedica Cook of Bucyrus on March 1, 1980, and she survives in
Fort Mill, South Carolina.
He is also survived by four children, Steve (Christine) Fetters of
Williamsburg, Virginia, John (Phyllis) Fetters of Findlay, Anne (Charles) Bellinger of
Rock Hill, South Carolina, and David (Liz Devlin) Fetters of Pierson, Florida; granddaughter, Shelly (Seth Beekman) Fetters of Findlay; sisters-in-law, Karen (Edrick dec.) Eater of Mansfield and Susan (Keith dec.) Cook of Bowerstown; nephews, Douglas (Jacqueline) Eater of Davidson, North Carolina, and David (Angela) Eater of Mt. Gilead; and niece, Kelly (Tym) Greenwood of Shelby. Clair delighted in being a favorite uncle to the children of his sisters, Barbara (Chris dec.) Theleritis of Pekin, Illinois, Dallas (Jenny dec.) Critchet of Arcadia, Dennis deceased (Marilyn) Critchet of Upper Sandusky, Sandra (Mark) Micheli of Upper Sandusky, Philip (Melinda) Cole of Findlay, Joann (Jack) Kunkel - both deceased of Elkhart, Indiana, and Emerson Cole (deceased).
He served in U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War as an instructor at Southeastern Signal School in Camp Gordon, Georgia, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Returning to Hancock County after his military service, he farmed and owned and operated Fetters Greenhouse in Marion Township until 1985. He was past President of Hancock County Farm Bureau, Director of Hancock Landmark Cooperative for eight years, and leader of the Arcadia Boys 4-H Club for 15 years.
Relocating to Dunnellon, Florida, Clair was a Florida Certified Building Contractor for 30 years and enjoyed antique farm machinery, building and showing many antique engine models. He retired to Fort Mill, SC, in 2014 where he continued to enjoy many interests including gardening and woodworking. Clair attended and was a member of East Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Findlay, for 50 years and was a member of Christ Ridge PCA Church in
Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, until the time of Clair's funeral at 1 p.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street,
Findlay, Ohio, 45840, with Pastor Branden Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay. A live-stream of the funeral will be available at
