Curtis Mason Obituary

Curtis "Brent" Mason

Curtis Brent Mason died Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at his home in Findlay due to natural causes.

He was born Aug. 7, 1971, in Cynthiana, Kentucky, to JoAnn Thompson Mason and Hugh Wallace Mason.

He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Reeds; and stepfather, Dr. Ralph Reeds, MD.

He is survived by JoAnn's sister, Janet Enslein, of Davenport, Iowa.

He was self-employed in landscaping, mowing and maintenance, and snow removal. He had a wild sense of humor that he used to get reactions from people. But most telling was dedication to the Boy Scouts, first as an Eagle Scout and later as an assistant scoutmaster of troop 308. He was also a member of venturing crew 310. He enjoyed leading scouts on nature hikes and teaching them about plants and trees. He entertained the scouts by telling stories - two years sailing around the world, climbing a pyramid in Egypt, and carrying around a pancake in his pocket. Brent also spent a lot of his time volunteering at Camp Berry where he loved to mow. He was an avid collector of Boy Scout patches, Mason jars, Native American artifacts, and fossils and minerals. He had a huge heart and loved to help others in any way he could. He lived with and doted on his cat, Gilbert, who is going to his Boy Scout family.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. A private graveside service will be at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America.
