Charlotte Heldman Obituary

Charlotte Mary Heldman

With heavy hearts, the family of Charlotte Mary (Sutter) Heldman, 100, announce her passing Monday, Aug. 12, 2024. She died peacefully in her sleep at The Manor at Greendale.

Charlotte entered this life on the 11th day of April in 1924. She was born in Ottawa, Ohio. Charlotte was raised in the Pandora area with two brothers and two sisters. It was on the 21st of May in 1943 that Charlotte was joined in matrimony to Alvin Heldman. Together, Charlotte and Al raised their three children, Donald, Janice, and James. Charlotte was married to Al for 64 years.

Charlotte worked for 27 years at the Food Town grocery store as a cashier and later as the bookkeeper. She was named Cashier of the Year for two years running. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the group fondly known as the "Cut-Ups" and also sang for a time in the church choir. She enjoyed reading, especially Christian fiction, and loved to do needlework, embroidery, and quilting. She also enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her rose garden.

Throughout her life, Charlotte was devoted to her family and provided them with love, food, and conversation. She also found joy in time spent with her friends and neighbors. As her friends preceded her in death, their children often kept in touch with Charlotte as she was always interested in their lives.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Janice and husband Donald Reich; two daughters-in-law, Sandy Heldman and Patti Heldman; six grandchildren, Brian and wife Heather, Rebecca and husband Allan Shuluga, Anne Reich, Angela Heldman, Bethany and husband Philip Dickey, and Andrew and wife Jen; three great-grandchildren; and dear friend of more than two decades, Martha Unruh. Charlotte Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; two sons, James and Donald; and siblings, Wayne and Robert Sutter, Jane Crawford, and Dorothy Cherry.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to American Heart Association or charity of the giver's choice.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, and 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, until the time of Charlotte's funeral at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 935 W. Bigelow Avenue, Findlay. Following the service, burial will take place at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia. Afterwards, the family has invited all to join in a luncheon in the church Fellowship Hall on the lower level.

Any and all memories that anyone wishes to share are most welcome and can be sent to the Reich family at coldrencrates.com.
