Cheryl Slaughterbeck Obituary
Cheryl Ann Slaughterbeck
Cheryl Ann Slaughterbeck passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Findlay. Our hearts are broken, but we are grateful she did not suffer extended illness.
Cheryl spent her youth in the house her dad built near Van Buren soon after she was born, November 6, 1956. She enjoyed many benefits of living in the country within walking distance of her grandparents, Orville and Mary Slaughterbeck.
Cousins, neighbors and friends played sports, chased lightning bugs through the fields, built forts and ice-skated on the pond in the woods. Cheryl loved her horses, which she rode with companions, sometimes for miles. She enjoyed family vacations in Florida to visit her grandparents, Russell and Doris Galloway, who retired there to be with family. She loved the ocean, days at the beach, fishing and good times with relatives.
Cheryl attended Van Buren Schools (K-12)and graduated with the Class of 1975. She received a BA degree from Ohio Northern University. Love of country inspired her service in the USMC. After many years as a dedicated mail carrier, she retired from Findlay Post Office.
Cheryl was the living essence of her mother's motto, "loving, caring, sharing." She was always willing to extend a smile to a stranger and a hand to a friend, a neighbor, or a person in need. She most enjoyed the company of family and friends in her home, often preparing them a delicious meal.
Cheryl's faith in God was unwavering. We trust she has been embraced and celebrated by many loved ones in paradise, including her parents, Phyllis (Jean) and David Slaughterbeck and her brother, Steve.
Cheri will be forever cherished by her surviving sister, Jan. Special thanks to her nephew, Steve and cousin, Deb, for their love and support. Cheryl also regarded her close friends as family, some of them lifelong.
Cheryl was a member of Howard Methodist Church. She chose not to have a funeral service.
Memorials may best be made in the hearts of those who love her. God bless and keep her precious soul.
