Allan Libbe Obituary

Allan J. Libbe

Allan J. Libbe, 95, of Perrysburg, died Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Mercy Health Center in Perrysburg. He was born October 25, 1929, in Sycamore, Illinois, to the late Leonard and Edith (Klenk) Libbe.

Allan graduated from Findlay High School in 1947 and Bowling Green State University in 1951, earning degrees in math and history. He also served in the Army Counterintelligence Corps. After completing his military service, he taught mathematics at Lake High School. In 1955 Allan, along with his cousins, Fritz and Phil Rudolph, founded Rudolph Libbe Inc. He served as leader of the construction company's estimating and financial departments until his retirement in 2000.

In his free time, Allan was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed history. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Suzanne, visiting all seven continents in his lifetime. Allan and Suzanne were long-time supporters of the University of Michigan and were football season ticket holders for many years. Allan was a skilled tennis player, playing often at the former Laurel Hill Swim and Tennis Club. He was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Maumee and a long-time member of Owens Community College Board of Trustees.

Allan will be remembered for his humble, kind and optimistic nature, and for his incredible ability to mentally persevere. He was always a dedicated, supportive husband and father, never missing his children's events, even with his busy schedule.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Margaret (Quinton) St. John and John (Carla) Libbe; grandchildren Meghan, David, and Justin St. John, Kelsey (Trey) and Erik (fiancé Belle) Libbe, Brooke (Matt) Loseke, and Lauren (Kevin) Friedman; and great-granddaughters, Lucille Loseke and Mia Friedman.

Allan was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Suzanne Libbe, on June 25, 2021.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg.
