Thomas R. "Russ" Nienberg
Thomas R. "Russ" Nienberg, 75, of Glandorf, passed away at 2:48 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born April 30, 1947, in Lima, to the late Thomas H. and Mildred (Fischer) Nienberg. He married Barbara Roof on July 12, 1969, and she survives in Glandorf.
Russ' survivors include three children, Nancy (Jen Liseo) Nienberg of Montclair, New Jersey, Thomas A. (Kelly) Nienberg of Glandorf, and Heidi (Ryan) Radaszewski of Mason; nine grandchildren, Niko Nienberg, Libby, Klara, Max, Jakob, Landry, and Theo Nienberg, and Linden and Mina Radaszewski; sister, Jean (Norman) Smith of Sidney; and three sisters-in-law, Edna Nienberg and Diane Nienberg, both of Glandorf, and Judy Nienberg of Columbus.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis Nienberg, Melvin Nienberg, and John "Jack" Nienberg.
Russ was a partner at Nienberg Supply Co. / Field Gymmy Inc., Glandorf, and past President of Glandorf Telephone Company. Russ was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, where he was an usher. He was also a member of Ottawa EMS, Ottawa Knights of Columbus, Leipsic Hunting and Fishing Association, Odd Fellows (IOOF), and NRA. Russ was a former pilot, enjoyed Civil War history, and loved camping and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023, at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. There will also visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Glandorf Fire Department, Ottawa-Glandorf EMS, or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf.
