Volker Snow Obituary

Volker "Rock" Snow

Volker "Rock" Snow, 79, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 4:45 a.m. at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Rock was born June 29, 1946, in Oldenburg, Germany, to the late Rosemarie Snow. As a young man, he immigrated to the US and completed high school in Columbus. There, he discovered his love of sports and coaching, including boxing, track, swimming, and more. Through swimming, he met a young woman named Shirley Ann Badgett. On December 12, 1970, they were married. Together, they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Shirley preceded him in death December 12, 2020.

Surviving are his children, Bart Snow, Chad (Shelly) Snow, Andrew (Emily) Snow, and Nicole (Val) Garner; grandchildren, Luke, McKenzie, Max, Marleigh, Reba, Logan, Sawyer, Leland, and Carson; great-grandson, Reed; and sister, Karen Mustacchio.

Rock completed his undergraduate degree at Ohio Dominican University and then earned a master's in sports management from the US Sports Academy. Rock became a mentor, a teacher, and a coach to many.

He taught Occupational Work Adjustment and vocational English at Findlay High School. Rock played an important role in helping the Findlay Area Swim Team and Findlay High School Swim Team become top-tier competitors. He also coached the Findlay High School Water Polo Team. Rock later went on to coach the swim team at Ohio Northern University, and then on to Arnold High School in Panama City Beach, Florida, where he also taught 9th-grade English.

In addition to being a teacher and coach, Rock also wrote for Billboard Magazine. He was a prolific writer, a voracious reader, and a master storyteller. Rock also loved the outdoors. He spent a lot of time fishing, soaking up the sunshine, and enjoying lake life. Rock was a collector of many things: stamps, trains, comics, and coins were only a few examples. And in his retirement, Rock learned to love gardening and birding. He mastered flowers and vegetables, and his amazing tomatoes grew like nothing else.

A Celebration of Life for Rock will be from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay.

Memorial contribu-tions may be made in Rock's honor to American Cancer Society.
