Thomas Hermiller Obituary

Thomas E. "Tom" Hermiller

Thomas Eugene Hermiller, 77, of Custar, passed away Friday morning, September 5, 2025, at his home with his family by his side, after living with Parkinson's for 25 years. He was born July 30, 1948, at St. Rita's Hospital in Lima, to the late Amos Bernard Hermiller and Geraldine Mary (Kohler) Hermiller. He was raised in a Catholic home and attended St. Anthony of Padua School through 8th grade. He was a 1966 graduate of Columbus Grove High School and worked in sales at the stockyard in Columbus Grove while attending school.

After graduation, he served in the Army National Guard and began his career with Carter Lumber. In 1974, he became manager of the Bowling Green location and remained in that position until his retirement in 2004. During that time, he maintained a farm in Custar and also helped his brother farm at the homestead in Columbus Grove. He built several homes and enjoyed woodworking throughout his lifetime.

He married Joyce Ann (Siebeneck) Hermiller, October 10, 1987, in St. Louis Church in Custar, where he was a member for over 50 years.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann (Siebeneck) Hermiller of Custar; his four children, Kris (Erikka) Hermiller of Findlay, Jenna (Marty) Lenhart of Gray, Kentucky, Joel Hermiller of Custar, and Dawn (Dustin Kirkland) Hermiller of Custar; his nine grandchildren EveLynn (Jacob) Fleming of Port Clinton, Gene Lewis of Maryville, Tennessee, ElissaRae Barrere of Newport News, Virginia, Zyan Barrere of Port Clinton, Elizabeth (Caleb) Northcutt of Seymour, Tennessee, Hope Lewis of New York, New York, Addison Kirkland of Custar, Olivia Hermiller of Findlay, and Ella Hermiller of Findlay; and his brother, Kenneth (Jane) Hermiller of Columbus Grove.

Thomas is preceded in death by his father, Amos Hermiller; mother, Geraldine Hermiller; sister, Doris (Louis) Schroeder; and his father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Lucille Siebeneck.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday September 12, 2025, at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home in Deshler, with scripture service beginning at 7:30 p.m. and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Custar. Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Francis Mariadas officiating, followed by graveside services at St. Louis Cemetery in Custar. A fellowship luncheon to follow at St. Louis school basement.

The family suggests memorials be made to Parkinson's Foundation or Sisters of Notre Dame.
