Thomas Hartman Obituary
Thomas Lee "Tom" Hartman, 86, of rural Rawson, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic. Tom was born October 7, 1938, in Eagle Township, Hancock County, to the late H. Lee and Edythe (Roller) Hartman.
On April 25, 1970, Tom married Patricia A. Connor, and she survives along with two sons, Kevin L. (Tatiana) Hartman, rural Rawson and Scott M. Hartman, Hillsboro, Oregon. Tom also has three sisters, Nancy (Carl) Snyder, Indianapolis, Indiana, Sue Hartman, Sylvania, and Carol Weisenauer, Belmont, North Carolina. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Chuck Connor; sisters-in-law, Janice Shaffer, Diane (Tom) Steele, and Maureen Pollock; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was a 1956 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School and a 1961 graduate of Bowling Green State University. Tom proudly served his country with the United States Army from 1961-1963. Tom was charter faculty at Penta Career Center from 1965-1967 and also charter faculty at Lakeland Community College in Mentor from 1967-1980. In 1980, he moved back to the family farm in Eagle Township to help his father. He taught part-time at the University of Findlay and then, in 1984, started working at TLB, Inc. which became Solomon Software and later Microsoft. Tom was a member of Hancock County Farm Bureau, Cory-Rawson FFA Alumni Association, Eagle Township Zoning Board, and Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District Board among others.
Tom was a very loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and son and a friend to all he had met over the years. He was involved in farming and the farm community his whole life. He loved to run the combine and have people ride along with him.
Visitation for Tom will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the funeral Home. Burial will follow at Keller Cemetery, where military honors will be presented by Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
