Silas Christopher Hammond

Silas Christopher Hammond, 5, of Rawson, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2023.

He was born July 10, 2018, to Owen Hammond and Courtney Santos, who preceded him in death. Silas lived with and was raised by his grandparents, David Hammond and Tiffanie Haase.

He is also survived by his sister, Adelina Santos; maternal grandparents, Tammy (Harry) Flugga and Dave Santos; great-grandparents, Jeff (Kelly) Haase and Larry (Paula) Hammond; aunts and uncles, Sandra (Andy Gallegos) Hammond, Quenton (Jake Spencer) Crawford, Sawyer (Morgan) Hammond, Forrest Hammond, Braydon (Em) Diaz, Oliver Diaz, and Sophia Crawford; and great-aunts and great-uncles, Buddy (Jenny) Hammond and Jeremy (Jen) Haase.

He was also preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Beverly Hammond and Everett Santos.

Silas was a free spirit with an amazing smile and infectious laugh. He had just learned to ride a bike without training wheels and he was so proud of himself! He loved when we called him Bub, but his favorite was Bubba the Love Sponge. He enjoyed fishing and was good at it. He would yell "Fish On" as he reeled in a large mouth bass. His favorite color was yellow. He loved Spiderman, dinosaurs, and sharks. Silas loved his big sister, Adelina, and spending time with his cousins, aunts, and uncles. One of his favorite things to do was follow paw paw around, riding in the Hot Rod and going to car shows and his special dates to Subway with maw maw and setting the table for dinner. He enjoyed tinkering on trucks with Oliver, black smoke, big tires, air horns, burnouts, and anything loud! He wanted to do what the big boys were doing. He was excited to go to kindergarten and would ask almost daily when school was going to start. Silas always wanted to have a party and loved cake. We loved him very much and life will never be the same. We "Love you Long Time" our sweet boy!

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, until the time of Silas' funeral at 1 p.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. A celebration of life will follow at the Moose. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Silas to the family in care of Coldren-Crates Funeral Home.
