Sherrill Jean Spangler

Sherrill Jean Spangler, 79, of rural Arlington, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, with her husband of 60 years at her side.

She was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, and adopted by Vance and Martha (Moser) Maddox. She married Michael J. Spangler on June 30, 1962, and he survives.

Sherrill is also survived by three children, Brian (Amy) Spangler of Covington, Kentucky, Patrick (Diana Rudd) Spangler of Roseburg, Oregon, and Mary Ann (Jim) Sisco of Downers Grove, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Clifford (Julie) Spangler, Elizabeth Spangler, Jacob Spangler, Casey Spangler, Madison Rahons, Sydney Spangler, Taylor Sisco, and Nathan Sisco; three great-grandchildren; and brother, John (Malita) Maddox of Montpelier, Vermont.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Daniel J. Spangler; and brother, Jerry (Jan) Maddox.

Sherrill was a 1962 graduate of Muncie Burris High School and received her LPN from Apollo Joint Vocational School and RN from Owens Community College. She worked at Blanchard Valley Hospital and various nursing homes including Good Samaritan Center, Arlington. She was a member of Mt. Zion Untied Methodist Church and ECHO and her and her husband volunteered with Christian Clearinghouse. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers, traveling, and crossword puzzles. She loved sports and was an avid Indiana State University, Purdue and University of Findlay basketball fan.

Sherrill's funeral will be 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Arlington, with Pastor Al Schnipke officiating.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington, and 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday at the church. Private burial will be at a later date.
