Sandra Sheldon Obituary

Sandra Sue Sheldon

Sandra Sue Sheldon gained her angel wings at 3:16 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Sue was born Aug. 7, 1943, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to Herbert and Melda (Baldridge) Preston. She married Jerry Sheldon on July 20, 1968, and he survives in McComb.

Sue is also survived by three children, Kim (Nick) Nigh of Findlay, and Jodie (Mike) Gustwiller and Jeff Sheldon, both of McComb; bonus son, Rob Montgomery of Columbus; grandchildren, Corey Zachrich, Morgan (Valentin) Lopez, Jerry Brown, Ryan (Carli) Aelker, Skye and Koby Gustwiller, Ashley, Austin (Caitlin), and Chelsea Frey, Brianna Nigh, and Erica Smith; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Hyde, and Max Lopez, Presley Aelker, Audriella, Taleigha, Brayleigh, and Baylor; and siblings, John (Lynn) Preston, Joey (Kristi) Preston, Doug (Melissa) Preston, Wynn Preston, Mable McCullough, Amber (John) Opperman, and Elizabeth (Joe) Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jimmy Brown; brother, Joe Fannin; and stepfather, Thomas Fannin.

Sue was a 1961 graduate of Findlay High School. Sue went to The Ohio State School of Cosmetology and was a beauty instructor at Ohio State Beauty Academy. Sue stayed at home to raise her children while Jerry just "kept on truckin." Sue always said she had the best husband who put his family first! She also worked at Shady Acre Golf Course of McComb and volunteered at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was a member of Calvery Baptist Church and attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. Sue enjoyed playing golf and spending time with all her grandchildren. Sue never missed any of her children's or grandchildren's sporting events and attended all their activities. She was their biggest cheerleader. She enjoyed feeding the birds, bird watching, and going out to eat with her friends from the class of 1961. It was always a fun time! Sue looked forward to getting her hair done and her conversations with Lori Niswander who she also called her daughter. She also enjoyed traveling, going to Fort Findlay Donut Shop, Moose #698, and Amvets Post 21. She loved golfing at Hillcrest golf course, working in her flower garden, and going to craft shows. There was never a time you would see Sue without one of her grandchildren. She was their "second" mom.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Blanchard Valley Heath Associates and The Ohio State University Wexler Hospital.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024, and 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, until the time of Sue's celebration of life at 1 p.m., all at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, east of Findlay.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Findlay Moose Lodge #698.

Kim and family - I am so sorry to learn of your loss today. Sue was a beautiful woman in every way. I remember her from our childhood days in the 1970´s and I thought she was one of the prettiest ladies I ever saw. I know you will miss her greatly and I will keep you all in my prayers.
