Sandra Kurtz Obituary

Sandra Kurtz

Sandra Dianne Kurtz, known for her boundless curiosity, infectious humor, and phenomenal chocolate chip cookies, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and love.

Born Sandra Dianne Carter, March 23, 1946, in Neapolis, Ohio, she was the daughter of Earl and Verna Bell Carter. A 1964 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School, Sandra dedicated many years of service to Findlay City Schools, where she worked in the cafeteria and became a familiar, caring presence to countless students and staff.

On November 6, 1972, Sandra married her loving husband, John Kurtz. Together, they built a life filled with family, resilience, and cherished memories before his passing. She was also preceded in death by her oldest child, John F. Kurtz; her three brothers, Orville, Russell, and Dale; and her two sisters, Earlma and Evelyn.

Sandra's memory will be lovingly cherished by her family and friends, including her children, Kathryn Kurtz of Marquette, Michigan, Joseph L. (Stephanie) Kurtz of Cheboygan, Michigan, Jeffrey A.C. (Lorri) Kurtz of Bloomdale, and Sherry (Shannon) Thom of Middletown, Indiana. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Betty Brentlinger of Fort Myers, Florida.

Sandra was a proud grandmother to Nikki Johnson (Bianca), Katie Potvin, Esten Potvin, Josh Kurtz, Andrew Kurtz (Frank), Mike Gee (Katelyn), Eric Kurtz (Ayesha), Breanna Canales (Jose), Markie Hernandez (Katie), Zachary Thom (Cassie), and Tanner Thom (Megan).

Affectionately known as "GiGi," Sandra was especially proud to be a great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren, Terrik, Parker, Olivia, Noah, Zoe, John, Lillian, Elijah, Jack, and Gracelyn.

Sandra's quick wit, inquisitive nature, and generous heart made her a joy to be around. Whether she was asking thoughtful questions, sharing a laugh, or baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, she brought comfort and happiness to those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2026, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, where visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to service. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery, Findlay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Henry Community Health Hospice, 1000 N. 16th Street, New Castle, IN 47362.
