Ruth A. Light

Ruth Ann Light, 79, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022, at Stillwater Hospice Home, Ft. Wayne. Ruth was born Nov. 17, 1942, in Findlay, to the late John and Violet (Martin) Wise.

Ruth married William Stimmel and they were divorced. She then married Lynn Light. Both men preceded her in death. She is survived by her six children from those two unions, James Stimmel of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Timothy Stimmel of Carey, Patricia Rush of Carey, Beth (Don) Watson, Valarie (Tim) Scott of Findlay, and Becky Light of Findlay; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Sally (Ken) Materni of Tantogani, Ohio; and companion for 30 years, Gerald Booher.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, John and Violet; son, William Stimmel Jr.; son-in-law, Rusty Rush; sister, Janet (Daryl) Sherbrook; and brother, John Wise Jr.

Known as "little grandma" to many, especially the neighborhood children because of her short stature and generous spirit, Ruth loved going to garage sales to pick up little trinkets that she could share with those around her. She was a member of American Legion in Fort Wayne and filled her time with dancing, crafting, fishing, going to the casinos, and playing with the grandkids. She also was a truck driver and was employed by North American Van Lines for 10 years.

Friends and family may visit from 1-3 p.m. with services to follow on Saturday, September 11 at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500).
