Roger Edmund Peterson

Roger Edmund Peterson, 82, passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, in Granger, Indiana. Born November 22, 1943, he was known for his entrepreneurial spirit, sense of adventure, and charismatic sense of humor. Roger graduated from Bismarck High School in 1961 and earned his degree from the University of North Dakota in 1965. His career included roles at Honeywell, North American Life, Blue Cross Blue Shield-where he met his wife, Gwynne-and Bremar Insurance Agency before he and his family settled in Findlay, Ohio, in 1978, where he founded Benefit Plans Risk Management, building a successful business from the ground up. After retiring, Roger opened Wooley Bulley's, a popular local restaurant and bar, which he sold in 1994.

An avid outdoorsman and sports fan, Roger cherished time on the family cabin cruiser on Lake Erie, enjoyed boating and fishing, rarely missed cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, and looked forward to his annual pheasant hunting trips to North Dakota.

He is survived by his wife, Gwynne; daughters, Stephanie Morris (Jim), Lana Frank (Jon), Sherri Peterson, and Shelli Parks; sons R.J. Peterson and Jack Venable; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Peterson and Caroline (Bentz) Peterson.

Per his wishes, there will be no public visitation; he was cremated, with ashes to be laid to rest in Richardton, North Dakota, and on the family farm. A private celebration of life will be at a later date in Granger for family and friends.
