Robert J. Nichols
Robert Joseph Nichols, 90, of Findlay, passed away at Blanchard Valley Hospital Sunday, January 5, 2025.
He was born December 11, 1934, in Lyndhurst to Joseph and Grace (Fioretti) Nichols. Robert married Susan Cramer on February 11, 1961, and she preceded him in death in 2024.
Robert was a Brush High School graduate. After receiving his undergraduate degree from The University of Findlay, Robert continued his education at Bowling Green State University, where he earned his master's degree. He lived a life devoted to service, working as an educator and coach for 35 years, serving on council for over 26 years, and sitting on many committees to better serve the community of Findlay.
Robert's interests included golf for many years. He was a member of Sycamore Springs Golf Course and really enjoyed his time there golfing with his teaching buddies. Robert also loved traveling with his wife all over, from the Caribbean to Alaska. He had a couple of hobbies he enjoyed: cheering for his favorite sports teams, tinkering around in the garage, and reading.
Robert is survived by his son, Scott Nichols, of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren, Nicole Bryson of Perrysburg, Kelsey Hartzell of Lexington, Kentucky, and Nathan Nichols of Chicago, Illinois; and two great-grandchildren, Jack Bryson and Ellie Bryson, both of Perrysburg. He is also survived by his siblings, Joe and Ann, and his son-in-law, Rick Kloeppel, of Findlay.
He was preceded in death by both parents; loving wife, Susan; daughter, Lisa Nichols; and brother, Donald.
Friends and family may visit from 11-1 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500). Robert's funeral service will be at the conclusion of visitation at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Klausing officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
