Robert Meier Obituary

Robert J. "Bob" Meier

Robert J. "Bob" Meier, 88, passed away from this life to eternal life Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023.

He was born Aug. 10, 1935, to Gertrude (Schneider) and Clem Meier. He married Miriam (Grouver) Winski and she preceded him in death in 1984. He married Jean Watercutter in 1994 and they moved to Indian Lake.

Bob is survived by his children, Chris (Mike) Smoody of Findlay and Phil Meier of Maynardville, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Heather Rial Meier of Knoxville, Tennessee; Brian (Laura) Watercutter of Minster; and Stephanie (Randy) Thompson of Lake Havasu City, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Rick Meier; and siblings and in-laws, Mary Lou and Don Kinstle, Pete and Connie Meier, George and Mary Katherine Meier, and Jim Meier.

Bob was a graduate of Wapakoneta St. Joseph School and retired from General Mills in 1996. Bob was a man of deep faith and was active at St. Michael Catholic Church, Findlay. When he wasn't taking care of his apartments in Findlay, he enjoyed his retired life at Indian Lake, socializing with friends, and sitting and watching the lake from his home. Bob and Jean spent many winters in Florida socializing with new friends. Bob loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved to see them grow, experience new things and develop themselves to their full potential and live their best life.

Bob spent his life making friends. He never knew a stranger.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, and 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, until the time of Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 464 Madison Ave., Russells Point. The Rev.
