Robert Irons Obituary

Robert A. Irons

Robert A. "Bob" Irons, 72, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023.

He was born Feb. 19, 1951, in Warrensville Heights, to Earl and Laverne (Michell) Irons.

Bob, as he was affectionately known to his friends and family, graduated from Findlay High School in 1969 and then enrolled in Ohio Army National Guard. He married Sharon (Erickson) Irons of New London on June 15, 1974, and completed a Bachelor of Business at Tiffin University.

After graduation, he started his career in sales and then opened his own business, Magic Auto Glass, in 1984 in Findlay. He was a model train enthusiast, enjoyed skeet shooting, and working with his hands. Bob was a staple patron at all his girls' activities, chauffeuring them to out of town events and volunteering his time to support the organizations in any way possible.

Once retired, he fulfilled his wish of owning a motorhome, camping with family and teaching all his grandkids how to fish. He loved tailgating at Buckeye football games annually and supporting all his grandkids' activities whenever possible. Bob also made time to join Findlay American Legion - Post 3 and served as financial officer for several years.

Robert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon; their two children, Heidi (Matt) Thompson of Beavercreek and Lindsey (Brian) Hooper of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Madison, Connor, Alexis, Evan, and Quinn; and brothers, Richard Irons of Engadine and Jim Irons of Perrysburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, until the time of Bob's funeral at 2 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 109 East Lincoln Street, Findlay. The Rev. Tucker O'Leary n/OLF will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, with military rites performed by Hancock Veteran's Memorial Squad.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Irons Family Scholarship at the Community Foundation or Ralph D. Cole Post #3, American Legion.

Bob and I graduated from Findlay high school in 1969. He was a good guy. He knew he could always call me if he had any problems with trying to get Gas to a home or an apartment that he or Earl had.

I haven´t seen Bob for a couple of years. He always had a quick sense of humor. Prayers are lifted for the family and friends of Bob. Blessings!!

Bob was a good man. I worked for him in 1977-78 at Auto Glass Specialties here in Findlay. My wife and I rented our first apartment from his parents. Bob had a great sense of humor and we always had a good time together. We faded apart over the years but I'm so happy to see that he had a good family surrounding him. I'm sure you will all miss him dearly. Rest In Pease Bob.
