Richard Frazier Obituary

Richard D. Frazier

Richard D. Frazier, 95, of Carey, passed away at 5:33 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, at his residence.

Richard was born March 2, 1927, in Fulton County, the son of Dale B. and Erma C. (Fortney) Frazier. He married Laurell Elizabeth (Dible) Hall on May 3, 1969. Laurell preceded him in death Dec. 19, 2017.

A World War II veteran, Richard proudly served his country in U.S. Navy. He spent most of his time in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and received Victory Medal, American Areas Campaign, and Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medals. Upon returning to the States, Richard spent the next 58 years working for Ohio Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator.

Richard loved to tinker in his retired years. He spent a lot of time woodworking and helping Laurell with her Tole painting projects. When not working on his honey-do list, you could find him sitting in his recliner watching black and white Western movies or one of the many television series.

Richard is survived by four children, Roberta (Don) Ray, Tracey (Steve) Wanner, Tim Frazier, and Richard Frazier; five stepchildren, Kristine Kay (Gary) Jones, James Irwin (Valerie Rex) Hall Jr., Jeffrey Alan (Debbie Southward) Hall, John Karl (Autum Rukes) Hall, and Mary Elizabeth (Bob Baker) Hall; five grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; many great grandchildren; 17 stepgreat-grandchildren; and good friends, Ed and Jane Hunker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Thomas Daniel Hall and his wife, Janet; and step-great-grandchild, Elizabeth McCutcheon.

Richard's funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with Pastor Ed Hunker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery near Upper Sandusky, where Carey Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and sent to the funeral home.
