Raymond Noon Obituary

Raymond A. Noon

Raymond A. "Ray" Noon, 40, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, in Upper Sandusky.

Ray was born June 26, 1983, in Upper Sandusky, the son of Jerry A. and Cecilia J. "CJ" (Stapley) Noon, and they survive in Carey. He married Melissa D. Altemus on Oct. 13, 2018, and she survives in Upper Sandusky.

Ray graduated from Carey High School in 2002. It wasn't long after he enlisted in U.S. Army. A combat veteran of the Iraqi War, he was involved with the second battle of Ramadi and worked with the 101st Airborne unit. The experiences he lived through left scars, both physically and mentally. To Ray, PTSD is a real thing and was extremely difficult to cope with. He fought the disease valiantly and should be remembered as the honorable, kind-hearted, fun-loving man who would do anything for the people who loved him. We will most remember his smile. The smile that could bring anyone out of whatever dark place they were in. He never wanted to see anyone hurting and only wanted to make people laugh and feel better. Ray loved hard.

Ray fulfilled his childhood dream of serving the community in law enforcement, something he had worked hard to achieve. He took great pride and had much joy that he was protecting the people of Wyandot County. He was also a skilled tradesman and worked in manufacturing around the area. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed wood working, tinkering in the garage, and taking road trips with his wife. Thanks to YouTube, he could fix about anything. In fact, many data overages were from YouTube and Google. Whatever he did was done from his heart. He was musically gifted. Give him an instrument and he would have it mastered in no time. It all started when he was a member of the Marion Drum and Bugle Corp. during his teenage years.

Ray was a member and Past Commander of VFW 3759 in Carey. A community-minded guy, he served on the Board of Hannah's House and Wyandot County Veterans Service Commissioner, both in Upper Sandusky.

His No. 1 joy was being a dad. He is survived by eight children, Courtney, Rory, Lyla, Everleigh, Jason, Lucas, Derek, and Zachary; sister, Emma (Troy Fisher) Noon; and favorite nephew, Henry.

A private graveside service will be at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey, with Brother Randy Kin officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Carey Honor Guard.

Memorial contribution may be made to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home to help with expenses.

My cousin, you were so special to me and now a year has passed since you left Earth and went to wait for our Lord. I know that I'll see you one day, but the pain of not being able to talk to you now is pretty hard to live with. In the end, nobody knows what YOU were going through, how YOU felt, I know that you hurt so very much and that you didn't know another way to make that pain go away - I'm not mad at you. I am not mad at you cousin, I love you very much. You left behind so many that love you more than you would have ever known and I pray for them all the time. I pray for peace, and I pray that I get to see your smile some day and give you the biggest hug. He will wipe every tear from our eyes, there will be no more suffering, no more pain. Love you cousin. Xxoo
