Verna R. Ogg
Verna R. Ogg, born November 10, 1928, in Carey, passed peacefully to her new home in heaven with Jesus, her Savior Wednesday, March 25, 2026. It was Verna's prayer that all of her family, friends and people she had met on her life journey would join together again in Heaven one day.
Verna was born to Lloyd and Violetta (Patterson) Lessig. She enjoyed family life with five siblings, Richard (deceased) (Virginia) Tiffin, James (Sally), both deceased, Carey, Roger (Nancy), both deceased, Vanlue, Marilyn (James deceased) Searson of Upper Sandusky, and Robert (Julia) of Ashland.
She was a proud graduate of Carey High School, Class of 1946. On March 21, 1947, Verna married her best friend, Jack Ogg (deceased). They embarked on their lifelong journey of building their family grounded in faith and the joy of shared experiences. She was a devoted wife, mom and grandma. Her children are Mark, New Philadelphia, Peggy (Rand) McBride, Findlay, William (Jane), Findlay, and Karen (Greg) Bell, Lewis Center.
Verna considered family time and friend gatherings a treasured gift. She loved traveling and was ready to go on an adventure on a moment's notice. She recently reminisced about her travels to many states. The most fun trips were the annual fishing trips to Canada with many Wharton neighbors, and catching up with their Canadian friends. She and her pen pal, Peggy Sampson of the U.K., began corresponding during World War II. Their correspondence became an 80-year friendship. The Sampsons visited Verna and Jack here in the U.S., and no doubt Verna regrets not visiting Peggy and Jack in the U.K.
Verna enjoyed fellowship and worship at Bible Methodist Church, Findlay. She had a genuine love for people, which led to rich experiences and fond memories. She wanted to let others know they were special.
Verna's final six months have been spent living at Judson Palmer Home in Findlay. She often expressed how happy and secure she felt with the staff and how much she appreciated the wonderful accommodation. The family can't be more pleased with the staff's professionalism, kindness, and friendship. Judson Palmer's home goes above and beyond in welcoming new residents and caring for them. We can't thank them enough!
The family would also like to thank Interim Hospice Health Care of Lima Hospice for their wonderful staff, who treated our mom with professionalism, kindness, and exceptional care. They were very accommodating and respected our wishes.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Bible Methodist Church, Findlay. All are welcome to attend.
