Ray Barney Obituary
Ray Barney, 80, of Carey, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Feb. 3, 1944, in Goodman, Missouri, to Clarence and Ileene Barney. Ray married Mary Theresa Fox on Nov. 23, 1973, at National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary; children, Theresa, Kristy, and Tim Barney; grandson, Jayden Barney; brother-in-law, Karl Fox; brother and sister in-law, Brad and Rose Hess; nephews, Brian, Andy, and AJ Hess; and nieces, Janay and Janelle Hess.
Ray was also preceded in death by his parents; and niece, Kathy Hess.
Ray was employed at the Carey Implement Store, Snyder Lumber Co, and retired from Alvada Trucking in 2011. He was also on the Carey Fire Department for 28 years. Ray was the President of Wyandot County Firemen's Association and lifetime member of Carey VFW.
A time to gather and celebrate Ray's life will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey. Ray's celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ray's honor to Carey Fire Department, Carey High School Athletic Department, or charity of the donor's choice.
