Peggy J. Warren
Peggy Jeanette (Barkimer) Warren, 94, of Rawson, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, February 25, 2025, with family by her side at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
She was born in Findlay December 20, 1930, to Carl and Thelma (Miller) Barkimer. She was born a city girl, but in February of 1948, she met Kenneth Warren at Findlay Airport restaurant. They were married October 17, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Monk officiating. She was shown the country life which she embraced the rest of her life. Kenneth predeceased her May 18, 2010. To this union were born five children, Cheryl (Robert) Conkle, McComb, Sarah (stillborn), Jim (Deb Kotterman) Warren, Findlay, Cathy Kendrick, Bucyrus, and Carolyn (Dave) Ferris, Rawson.
Peggy grew up on Dayton Ave in Findlay and still fondly enjoyed driving by the house and reminiscing. She was a 1948 graduate of Findlay High School and played clarinet in the high school band. She enjoyed the class reunions attending almost everyone. During high school, Peggy worked at Confectionary in Riverside Park. She also worked at Gordon's Grocery and Bar Main Grocery. Peggy loved to ice skate and roller skate at Greenmill Gardens Roller Rink in Findlay. She was also an avid bowler in her younger years playing on several leagues in Findlay and McComb even bowling on state championship teams in the early 80's. Following high school, Peg went to work for Glessner Company for several years. After staying home to raise a family and help with the farming, she worked at Hancock County ASCS office starting in 1966. She retired as manager of Putnam County ASCS office in 1995. The day after she retired, she and Kenny started to train, race and breed standardbred pacers. They traveled to many fairs all over the state racing almost every week during the summers with many successful racing seasons.
Peggy enjoyed all kinds of music and enjoyed playing piano. In her younger years, she was quite the seamstress, sewing Easter dresses, prom and homecoming dresses and even a set of racing silks. She loved to garden, mow her yard and can many fruits and vegetables including her famous tomato juice which she shared with all the kids and grandkids. She enjoyed her Monday nights at the Moose with some of her classmates and an occasional casino trip.
Peggy is survived by her four children and five grandchildren, Matt (Carly, fiancee) Detamore, Spring Hill, Florida, Andrea Warren, Dublin, Ohio, Ashley (Andy) Barton, Dublin, Ohio, Brian Ferris, Marietta, Georgia, Kelsea (Tim) Leeper, Rawson; and four great-grandchildren, Mathys Wenger, Teagan Wenger, Danon Leeper, Wade Leeper; stepgrandchild, Kelly Kendrick; and a stepgreat-grandchild, Quinn Conkle; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her sisters and their spouses, Barbara (Louis) Heldman, and Shirley (Tony) DeLesDernier and Rebecca (John) Noack; and a son-in-law, Dave Kendrick.
Peggy was a member of Good Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington.
Visitation will be from 10-12 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at Good Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arlington. Funeral service will immediately follow visitation at noon with Pastor Steve Ramsey officiating. Crates Funeral Home, Arlington is handling Peggy's funeral arrangements.
