Nancy Rooney Obituary

Nancy Ann "Nan" Rooney

Our loving mom, Nancy Ann "Nan" (Montgomery) Rooney, 97, passed quietly into the arms of God surrounded by her loving family.

She will be remembered for her warm engaging smile and loving embrace. Her family meant the world to her and she was adored by her seven children, 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Nancy was born in Findlay, the first daughter of William and Mary Montgomery. She attended Findlay High School and after graduating in 1943, she answered the call to duty, relocating to Lockhaven, Pennsylvania, to build training and surveillance aircraft for Piper Aircraft Company in support of the war effort. After the war, she returned to Ohio, attending Bowling Green State University before marrying the love of her life, John C. Rooney, in 1947.

She is survived by five children, Suzy (Charles) Kinn of Martinsburg, West Virginia, John Christopher (Debbie) Rooney of Cardiff by the Sea, California, Timothy Edward (Sharon) Rooney of Findlay, Patrick Michael (Emmy) Rooney of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Mary Ann Flickinger of Findlay.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan; loving husband, John Cletus Rooney; and two sons, Billy and Casey.

Nan and John celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary two years before his passing in 2001. They are reunited in Heaven and together for eternity, watching over the family from above, beaming with pride.

Nan was a devout Catholic, attending Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish, Findlay, and Saint Mary Catholic Church, Bluffton. We will always remember the joy of attending Mass with Mom and returning to the loving home where we shared many home-cooked meals while reminiscing about the memories of growing up in the Rooney household surrounded by our mother's love. We will miss her dearly! God bless you mom!

At Nancy's request, there will be no visitation or services at this time.

A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.

COLDREN CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay, has been entrusted with her care.

Contributions in Nan's memory may be made to Bridge Hospice Care Center, 1900 South Main Street, Findlay, or St. Michael the Archangel Parish Foundation, 750 Bright Road, Findlay.
