Michael Eugene Nye

Army veteran, entrepreneur, and worldwide traveler Michel Eugene Nye, 76, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, in hospice care near his longtime home in Naples, Florida.

Mike was born Jan. 3, 1948, in Findlay to the late Eugene and Florence (Romick) Nye. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Ingleston, Findlay; two grandchildren, Brandon (Lucy) Contris and Parker (Sophia) Evans; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Chase Contris; sister, Christine (Steven) Brown, Findlay; and brother, Richard (Beverly) Nye, Spring, Texas. Mike is also survived by his partner of 10 years, Rujapa Wongsa and her family in Thailand.

Mike graduated from Findlay High School in 1966 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. As a retiree, he volunteered with his local Veterans Affairs organization, driving veterans to medical appointments and providing support.

Mike's professional life included working for Western Geophysical, a global company providing seismic services for oil and gas industries. In this capacity, he lived in countries such as Spain, Lybia, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Alaska, and Texas. He also enjoyed owning two small businesses over the years before retiring.

A special thank you to his faithful friend, Kelly Stewart, who saw to his every need during his last months.

Services will be private at a later date.

Those wishing to remember Mike may send memorials to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
