Mary Susanne Groves

Mary Susanne (Oswald) Groves, 96, of Naples, Florida, and formerly of Findlay, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at Lely Palms Retirement Community in Naples, Florida. She was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Findlay, to the late Leslie A. and Agnes (Jordan) Oswald. She married her husband, Arthur H. Groves, on Feb. 26, 1947, and he preceded her in death Dec. 18, 2016.

Mary attended St. Michael School and later worked for Findlay City Schools in the cafeteria, where she eventually retired. She also worked for Blanched Valley Hospital in the housekeeping department and at RCA. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Findlay, and West Park E.U.B. She enjoyed square dancing (a member of the Wagon Wheels Square Dancers) and camping, where she was a member of the NCHA camping club.

Mary is survived by her three children, the Rev. James A. (Pamela) Groves, Lala S. (David) Sharrer, and Maryann J. (Michael) Poindexter; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters-in-law, Judy Oswald and Doris Oswald. In addition to her parents; and husband; she was preceded in death by her siblings, Arthur, Joseph, Thomas, Raymond, Leo Oswald and Ruth VanAtta.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840, with interment at Knollcrest Memory Gardens in Arcadia. Memorial contributions in Mary's name may be shared with the donor's choice.
