Martha Couture Obituary

Martha J. Couture, 93, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday February 18, 2026, at Lutheran Life Villages at Pine Valley Martha was born in Salem, IN on February 18, 1933, the daughter of (the late) Claude Weeks and Lillian C. (Lykins) Weeks Barnard. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of '51. Martha married Gerald Couture, who preceded her in death in 2020. She is survived by sons, David (Terri) Wichmann of Victor ID, Gregory (Karen) Couture of Fort Wayne and Jeffrey (Kathy) Couture of Carmel; grandchildren, Benjamin (Melinda) Couture, Cortni (Alex Wood) Couture, Andrea Couture, Alex Couture and Mia Couture, and 3 great-grandchildren. Martha is also survived by her brothers, Terry Barnard in California and Everett (Marie) Barnard of Mooresville IN. Martha was a member of First Wayne St. United Methodist Church; she enjoyed gardening, cooking & baking and was affectionately referred to as "Grandma Cookie". Her true joy in life was the time she spent with her family & friends; she adored her grandchildren, and will fondly be remembered for her contagious laugh and the example she set, to always live life by The Golden Rule. Funeral Services are 2:00pm Saturday March 7, 2026 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave, where friends may call from 1-2pm.
