Margaret Zachrich Obituary
Margaret Mary Zachrich, 99, of Hamler, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, October 4, 2025, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Holgate.
She was born April 30, 1926, in Hamler, to the late Henry and Mary (Mack) Erford. She was one of ten children in her family. She attended the former K-6 Porcupine Country School on County Road 8 and graduated from Hamler High School.
On March 4, 1950, she married Harold Punches, and they had six children. Harold preceded her in death, February 25, 1963. She would marry Jerry Zachrich, February 5, 1965, and they had two children and spent 37 years together before he preceded her in death June 7, 2002. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, a member of the Zion Church of God, Hamler and Wide-A-Wake Club.
She is survived by seven of her children, Kay (Robert) Blair, Kevin (Connie) Punches, Lou Ann "Toot" Wensink, Pam (David) Sunderman, Jacki (Brent) Behrman, Craig (Beth) Zachrich, and Cathy (Roy) Tooman; daughter-in-law, Kathy Punches; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Reese, and sister-in-law, Mary Erford.
She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Randy "Buzz" Punches; and siblings, Lenore Gerschutz, Marvelle Clausen, Henry "Mack" Erford, John Erford, Reynold Erford, Jean Hammer, Art Erford, and Mary Ann Gebers.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, with Pastor Jerry Cooke officiating. Private burial service for family at Marion Township Cemetery, Hamler.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, prior to services at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.
