Margaret Ann Johnson
Margaret Ann Johnson, 83, of Grove, Oklahoma, and formerly of Findlay, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born Sept. 22, 1940, in Bowling Green, the daughter of Frank Steve and Helen Margaret (Sager) Kovach. She married Lloyd F. Johnson Jr. on May 16, 1961, and he preceded her in death June 27, 2002.
Margaret's survivors include her sons, Lloyd "Frank" (Arunya) Johnson III of Pattaya, Thailand, Daniel (Linda Wyans) Johnson of Arcadia, Kenneth (Wendy) Johnson of Bonaire, Georgia, and Joseph Johnson of Bacolod City, Philippines; daughter, Catherine (Ford) Griggs of Grove, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Olivia (Jeff) Kasparek of Chandler, Arizona, Bryce Johnson of Bonaire, Georgia, and Emily (Hart) Fields of Hawkinsville, Georgia; four great-grandchildren, Addalynn, Colton, Weston, and Timothy, all of Chandler, Arizona; six grandchildren through the love of marriage, Crystal Hernandez and Frankie Hernandez, both of Fostoria, Arjie Philline (David) Yogore, Sibelle Uychiat, and Mirriam May Flores, all of Bacolod City, Philippines; and seven great-grandchildren, Dylan Peace of Arcadia, Lamarion, Alannah, and Armani Tucker, all of Arcadia, and David, Ada, and Dan Yogore, all of Bacolod City, Philippines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd F. Johnson Jr.; and brother, Steve Kenneth Kovach.
Margaret was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Grove, Oklahoma and former member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, Findlay. She was a senior lab technician at Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, Findlay. She was a member of Grand Lake of the Cherokees Quilt Guild in Grove and served on the program committee for many years. She was on the Prayer Quilt committee and made hundreds of prayer quilts for those in the community and in hospice (many were donated to Comforting Hands Hospice which is the hospice company she personally used). She was also a member of Country Fare Quilter's Guild in Claremore, Oklahoma and Quilt History Group in Bentonville, Arkansas. She loved to study and identify antique quilts and was the proud owner of many.
Margaret was an avid painter and quilter at which she displayed proudly in her home and the homes of her children and grandchildren. She loved to share her knowledge and had quilting and wool groups that met at her home weekly for the past seven years.
She was very involved in Boy Scouts with her sons for many years and was Scout Family of the year in 1980. That lead to involvement as a family in the Order of the Arrow and then Native American Powwow's for the the past 50 years.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, until the time of Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, Downtown Findlay. Father Mewlyn Menezes will officiate. Burial will follow at New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.
