Lawrence Dean Kirkendall

Lawrence Dean Kirkendall, 94, of Findlay, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.

He was born Jan. 22, 1929, in McComb, to Leroy and Jesse (Spence) Kirkendall. He married Agnes Tackett on Aug. 7, 1949, and she preceded him in death Aug. 13, 2008.

Lawrence's survivors include his sons, Lawrence Kenny Kirkendall of Florida and Terry Lee Kirkendall of Findlay; daughter-in-law, Margie Kirkendall of Maryland; brother, Wayne Kirkendall of Florida; grandchildren, Autumn (Nathan) Rivera, Terence (Robin) Kirkendall, and Travis (Holly) Kirkendall; stepgrandchildren, Chris McDermott and Joey Shook; and eight great-grandchildren.

Lawrence was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Gene Kirkendall Sr.; brother, Norman Kirkendall; sister, Leoma Bish; grandchildren, Troy and Gene Jr. Kirkendall; and stepgrandchild, Jenny Troiano.

Lawrence was a final inspector at Kodak, retiring after 31 years in 1987. He served his country as an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a wood carver and artist and enjoyed his gardens. He played old gospel and country music on his guitar and dulcimer and learned how to play other string instruments as well. He was also in various bowling leagues and golfed for the Kodak league.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2023, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Lawrence's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Quilly Dasher officiating. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay where members of Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad will accord military honors.
