Laurence "Larry" Gene Bowman

Laurence "Larry" Gene Bowman, 77, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Life Care Center of Colorado Springs.

He was born September 22, 1947, in Fostoria, to the late Raymond L. "Ray" and Jean (Nye) Bowman.

Larry is survived by two brothers, Jim (Connie) Bowman, Tennessee, and Jerry (Dikki) Bowman, Florida; sister, Joan (Dave) Beckwith, Mt. Blanchard; and sister-in-law, Melody Bowman, Arcadia.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Bowman, by exactly one year to the day.

Though Larry never married, he was a generous uncle (who never forgot a birthday) to Mark, Becky, Jenny, Chris, Ryan, Amy, Monica, Jessica, Brian, Katie and Andy. He also had a dear friend, Paula Haveron, who preceded him in death. He loved his honorary grandchildren, Britni, Sierra, Taylor, Kristian, Seth, Aili and Nonnie; and his honorary daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Wendell Carroll, who all took loving care of him through the years.

Larry was a 1965 graduate of Arcadia High School and a 1969 graduate of The Ohio State University. His love for his Buckeyes was well known. He was active in the Washington D.C. Alumni club for many years, serving in various capacities, including president. Larry was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.

Larry worked for the USDA all his adult life, making countless loyal friends and acquaintances throughout the United States. He worked in various positions at the county, state and national levels. He completed his career as the Chief of Rural Water Development in Washington, D.C. He was a dedicated civil servant who enjoyed pointing out locations across the country that had water systems for which he assisted in obtaining funding, including the one in Arcadia, Ohio.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, 323 N. Wood Street, Fostoria, Ohio 44830, with the Rev. Joseph Poggemeyer presiding. Following the Mass, there will be a funeral luncheon in the parish hall. Burial will be at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery.
