His career in the grocery business started at the age of 17 at Nichols IGA, Findlay. Along his journey, he worked at and owned several IGA stores. He was the co-owner of Heritage IGA, Tiffin, with his late brother-in-law, Paul Iliff, for 11 years. He owned Appleseed IGA in Arlington for 33 years.

He had a great passion for collecting antique cars and was an avid member of Flag City Classics Car Club for 20 years. He always enjoyed his involvement in cruise night and car shows.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay; sons, Larry Jr., Lanny (Mary Ann), and Lonnie (Sharon); daughter, Laurie; brother, Bob (Betty) Lovell; sister, Billie Jo Sweaney; six granddaughters, Lea (Sutton) Flick, Morgan (Ryan) Lause, Hillary (Bryce Sunderman) Samsal, Tayler (Brandon Swick) Thomas, Caityln (Trent) Carey, and Kitty Lovell; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Paul Iliff; nephew, John Iliff; and son-in-law, Scott Samsal.
