Larry Raymond Barnes

Larry Raymond Barnes went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024.

Born in Montpelier, Larry was the son of Harold and Ruth Barnes. Larry graduated from Garrett High School in 1954 and earned his Associate Degree from International Business College in Ft. Wayne in 1956. Larry worked at Marathon Oil as a project manager, then as a travel agent for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1986. Larry had many hobbies including woodworking, home remodeling, antique car restoration, and traveling. He camped coast to coast across the United States multiple times and traveled to Europe three times. Larry was an active member in the Quail Chapter of the Penn-Ohio Model A Club throughout the 1990s. He was an Elder at Central Church of Christ of Findlay through the '70s and '80s and a Deacon at Bethel Church of Christ in Ada through the '90s and '00s. Larry was also a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Larry and his wife, Gloria, were married June 28, 1969, and enjoyed 53 years together until Gloria's passing in 2022.

Larry is survived by his children, Warren (Julie) Barnes and Ruth (Ben) Gregory; and grandchildren, Grace Barnes, Gehrig Gregory, and Dawson Gregory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Gloria Barnes.

Larry's service is 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at Towne House Retirement Chapel, 2209 St. Joe Center Road. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier. Memorials may be made to Bethel Church of Christ in Ada.

Warren,Ruth, and families,
Thinking of you with the passing of your father. He enjoyed his life, family, and traveling. I taught with your mom at Vanlue for many years. Your parents were such caring people. They are together again. Prayers and thoughts for each of you. Memories are powerful.
